Mega-superstar Madonna has sold millions of records and has a clothing line (Material Girl) and fragrance (Truth or Dare) in her empire. But the international pop diva has never taken a step in the direction of launching a shoe line…until now.
The 53-year-old singer has inked a deal with Aldo to
debut a line of footwear that will include 60 different styles and sell
for $89 to $349. Sharing the same name as her fragrance, Madonna’s
“Truth or Dare” shoe brand targets Madonna’s core demographic—women
between the ages 27 and 50 who have a timeless style and an innate sex
appeal.
Madonna’s longtime friend and costume designer Arianne Phillips
will serve as a consultant for the shoe line, which set to debut in
August. “Her fingers are really on this brand,” Phillips says. “The
first thing I did was remind her of all the shoes she wore over the
years, and we took the styles that we can’t live without. You can always
depend on her to bring her style and provocateur quality, but she also
has a very feminine perspective.”
